MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Delta State University men's tennis team (2-0, 2-0 GSC) took to the courts for the first time of the 2012 season gaining a 6-0 win over the Christian Brothers University Buccaneers (0-2, 0-1 GSC). The Statesmen also picked up a 6-3 decision against the University of Alabama-Huntsville (1-1, 1-1 GSC) at the TPC Southwind courts on Friday and Sunday.

Mitchell Pinchbeck  never conceded a game in his straight sets victory (6-0, 6-0) over Buccaneer Mark Galinato, teammate Christian Serrano Garcia also gained a straight sets win (6-2, 6-2) over Kevin Johnson in singles play.

The Statesmen picked up their second victory of the weekend against fellow Gulf South Conference opponent Alabama-Huntsville.  The Chargers jumped out ahead of the Statesmen in doubles play picking up wins in two of the doubles matchups (8-3, 8-3). The green and white bounced back with their first doubles win (9-7) from the combined effort of Garcia and Pinchbeck and the Statesmen never looked back.
