Box Score 2 PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Univeristy of West Florida Argonauts softball team smacked 25 hits en route to a doubleheader sweep of the Delta State University Lady Statesmen, Saturday at the University of West Florida Softball Complex.
UWF (20-14, 4-4) took game one 11-3 in six innings, and pulled away for a 7-1 win in game two.
The Lady Statesmen (12-15, 2-6) allowed back-to-back doubles in the bottom of the second to open the scoring at 2-0.
Jordan Cole got the Lady Statesmen to within 2-1 in the top of the third with an RBI infield single.
The Argos responded with a three spot in the bottom of the inning to increase the lead to 5-1.
Ashleigh Allgood got the Lady Statesmen to within 5-3 with a two RBI double in the top of the fifth, but UWF scored a combined six runs in its next two innings to come away with the win in the bottom of the sixth.
UWF got help from four DSU errors, including three in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Maggie Jackson (3-for-3) and Cole (2-for-4) were the only DSU players with multiple hits.
Kaley Kania had three RBI's for UWF.
Allgood (6-8) allowed eight runs on 12 hits in the loss.
Sara Davis allowed three runs, one earned on one hit.
Victoria Harvey allowed three runs on six hits in the win. Sarah Scott allowed three hits in two innings of relief.
DSU jumped on top 1-0 in the top of the second with an RBI single to center by
Raina Stiffler, that scored
Brook Cline from second.
The Argos plated three runs in the bottom of the second, which included two RBIs by way of the bunt.
Kildow drove in another run in the bottom of the fourth to make the score 4-1. With that same lead, UWF plated three runs in the bottom of the sixth, which included a two RBI double by Kasie Buckley.
The Lady Statesmen had at least one hit in each inning, and left seven runners on base.
Amber Adcock and Stiffler each had two hits for DSU. Buckley finished 3-for-4.
Brittany Gonzales (5-5) allowed seven runs on 12 hits in the loss. Ashliegh (5-5) allowed one run on eight hits.
The Lady Statesmen will return to action on Sunday, March 25 to take on the Unviersity of West Alabama. First pitch from Livingston is set for 2 p.m. All of the action will be carried live on GoStatesmen.com
