CLEVELAND – The Delta State University men's tennis team dropped a crucial 5-4 decision against Gulf South Conference opponent the University of West Alabama on April 13 and bounced back on April 15 claiming a 5-0 victory over Division I Alcorn State University.

The Statesmen jumped out on top of the Tigers winning the first doubles competition 9-8 on the racquets of Florian Mondoloni and Guillaume Lacour who recorded a 9-8 victory over the combination of Nestor Vargas and Adam Drysdale. The Tigers claimed the next two doubles matches taking a 2-1 lead going into singles play.

Mondoloni brought the green-and-white to a 2-2 tie with his three set performance against the Tiger's Nestor Vargas and took a 4-3 lead with Clement Depreeuw's 6-1, 6-2 victory over Kike Ruiz in singles competition. The Tigers rallied in the last two singles competitions to take the overall match 5-4 over the Statesmen.

Delta State bounced back on Sunday, April 15, in Cleveland with a convincing 5-0 victory over Alcorn State University.

The Statesmen return to action on April 21, when they travel to Montgomery, Ala. to compete in the Gulf South Conference tournament.
