CLEVELAND
- The Statesmen soccer team heads back to the road this weekend to play a pair of conference games against West Alabama and West Florida.

The Statesmen will play the Tigers for the first time in history as the two teams come into this week's matchup at No. 7 and No. 8 in the NSCAA South regional rankings.

STATESMEN RIDING A 5-GAME WIN STREAK
Delta State has pulled off five wins in a row after suffering a setback in the season opener. The Statesmen have outscored opponents 16-1 during the streak.

The streak ties the best in program history is five games, set in 2008. The five straight wins also came after a season opening loss. The longest unbeaten streak is six games, as the 2008 team's win streak came to an end with a 2-2 tie before losing the following game.

DA SILVA DOES IT AGAIN
The GSC named Caue Da Silva its Player of the Week for the second straight week after scoring a hat trick for the second straight game in the DSU's 3-1 win over Shorter on Sept. 14.

Da Silva became the first player in Delta State history to have multiple hat tricks in a season or career. The freshman also became the first Statesman to win the award in back-to-back weeks.

The São Sebastião do Caí, Brazil native is gaining national attention through the first few weeks of the season. With his four goals this weekend, Da Silva moved into third place nationally with eight goals on the season.

He also ranks fourth in total points (17), fifth in goals per game (1.33), and seventh in points per game (2.83). Da Silva ranks first in all four categories in the Gulf South Conference.

DSU MOVES UP TO NO. 7 IN NSCAA POLL
The Statesmen soccer program made another rise in the NSCAA/Continental Tire College Rankings this week, coming in at No. 7 after debuting last week at No. 10. The Statesmen are the highest ranked Gulf South Conference team in the South Region rankings.

BOSKOVIC PICKS UP FIRST CLEAN SHEET
Milos Boskovic has settled in nicely for DSU during the Statesmen's to the 5-game win streak.

The freshman has had a .818 save percentage since the first week, up from a .545 before. The Nuremberg, Germany native also has had a 1.00 goals against average after having a 2.50 GAA in the first week.
