	HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Statesmen soccer team of Delta State University traveled to Huntsville, Ala. for Gulf South Conference play on Friday night. Delta State fell to the Chargers by a score of 3-1 to fall to 0-9-1 on the season and 0-6-1 in conference play, while Alabama-Huntsville improves to 6-4-1 overall and 4-4-0 in conference play.
	
	This was the second matchup between the Statesmen and Chargers this season. The Chargers took a 1-0 win over the Statesmen earlier in September. With just a couple weeks separating the two matches, Delta State has improved from its first meeting with Alabama-Huntsville.
	
	The Chargers gave the Green-and-White some adversity to face early in the game with an Alabama-Huntsville goal just nine minutes into the game to give the Chargers the early 1-0 lead. Delta State was able to hold the Chargers to the one goal in the first half to keep the score 1-0 going into halftime.
	
	Alabama-Huntsville added to their lead in the second half at the 59:39 mark to go up 2-0 over Delta State. Another Charger goal in the 75th minute of play gave Alabama-Huntsville the commanding 3-0 lead over the Statesmen. The Green-and-White avoided the shutout as Joe Stockglausner scored, his first of the season, on a pass from Amine Rahmani with less than four minutes remaining in the game. The late attempt by Delta State was not enough. The Chargers clinched the win with a 3-1 victory over the Statesmen.
	
	Alabama-Huntsville held the advantage in shots 13-9 and 7-5 in shots on goal. Six different Statesmen recorded shots for the Green-and-White. Amine Rahmani led Delta State with three shots, two on goal. Jack Pilley added two shots, one on goal, while Luke Mason, Paul Ochnicki, Jaxson Lambert, and Stockglausner contributed one shot each.
	
	Mack Pytyck took the loss in goal for the Statesmen after playing 76 minutes and allowing three goals. Milos Boskovic came in for relief for 14 minutes and grabbed two saves to keep the Charger's scoring at three goals.
	
	Delta State hits the pitch again on Sunday, Oct. 13 in Jackson, Tenn. to face Gulf South Conference opponent Union University. Kickoff is set for 4:15 p.m.
