Men's Soccer Falls on the Road to West Florida 4-0

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The men's soccer team of Delta State University traveled to Pensacola, Fla., to take on the Argos of West Florida on Sunday afternoon. The Statesmen fell 4-0 to drop to 1-13-1 on the season and 1-10-1 in Gulf South Conference play, while West Florida improved to 11-4-1 overall and 10-2-1 in conference play.

Throughout the entire first half of play, both teams were evenly matched as West Florida took 10 shots while Delta State took 7, none resulting in a goal. The score read zeros across the board at half time.

The second half saw much more offense as West Florida scored all four goals in the last 45 minutes of the match. Goals at the 49th, 52nd, 62nd, and 82nd minutes of play resulted in the 4-0 West Florida victory over the Green-and-White.

West Florida had the advantage over Delta State in shots 23-9 and shots on goal 10-4. The Statesmen were led by Joe Stockglausner with two shots, two on goal, and Jaxon Lambert with two shots. Fraser Pain, Russell Alvarez, Jr., Sebastian Knabke, Austin Jackman, and Bryce Childers all recorded one shot each.

Mack Pytyck suffered the loss in goal for the Green-and-White as he allowed four goals but grabbed six saves.

Delta State hits the pitch again for its last home game at Delta Field on Wednesday, Oct. 30 against Christian Brothers. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
