Hickman leads Lady Statesmen in 60-49 victory over West Georgia

Box Score CARROLLTON, Ga. – The Delta State University women's basketball team captured a 60-49 victory over the University of West Georgia in their final road game of the regular season inside The Coliseum on Saturday, Feb. 23. Chadisty Hickman broke through with a career-high 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the floor, six rebounds and three steals.

Delta State gained separation around the 7:02 mark in the first half and put together an 11-1 run contributed by numerous UWG turnovers

The Lady Statesmen utilized 18 points in the paint to take a 32-23 lead into the locker room against the Wolves.

Chelsey Rhodes paced DSU with eight points in the first half of play while Seneca Walton contributed seven points and three rebounds.

Jerlisa Taylor led all scorers in the first half with 10 points on 3-of-5 shooting from the floor. Brittany Johnson tallied six rebounds.

West Georgia made several runs in the second half closing the Delta State lead down to six points three times but the Lady Statesmen responded in kind each time extending the lead back out to double digits.

Rhandi Ball came alive in the second half to help DSU retain the lead and finished the night with 10 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals. Walton finished just shy of a double-double afternoon with nine points and eight rebounds while Rhodes finished with eight and was held scoreless in the second half.

Taylor finished the night with 15 points for the Wolves and was followed up by Brittany Johnson's 10 point and nine rebound performance.

The Lady Statesmen return to action on Thursday, Feb. 28, facing off against the University of West Florida inside Walter-Sillers Coliseum. Tip is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
