Statesmen record fifth Straight victory with 8-0 win over Magicians

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Delta State University Statesmen tennis team won its fifth straight match with a 8-0 victory over the Lemoyne Owen College Magicians on Tuesday March 19.

In doubles play the Statesmen recorded its first three match wins as Florian Mondoloni and Tobias Rausch defeated Quad Timms and Ashton Davis 8-1 in doubles one.

Doubles two saw Guillermo Cerrato-Saura and Mitchell Pinchbeck win 8-1 over the Magians' Lawrence Blaine and Donavon Mullings

Doubles three was forfeited by the Magicians.

Having a 3-0 advantage after doubles play the Statesmen swept singles play as Clement Depreeuw defeated Timms in singles one by a final of 6-1, 6-0.Sebastian Rajaonary defeated Ashton Davis 6-0, 6-0 in singles two.

Singles three saw Cerrato-Saura get the win over Lawrence Blaine 6-0, 6-1 while singles four was not played.

Singles five and six were awarded to DSU by forfeit as Mondoloni got the win in singles five and Rausch in singles six.

The Statesmen who are currently 5-3 overall and have a Gulf South Conference mark of 2-2 return to the court Thursday, March 24 as they travel to Vicksburg to face Alcorn State University.
