HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Delta State University Statesmen tennis team defeated the University of Alabama in Huntsville 5-4 on Thursdasy improving to 8-3 overall and a 3-2 mark in Gulf South Conference action. The victory is the seventh in a row for the Statesmen.
In Doubles action the Statesmen recodred a record of 2-1 on the day with wins in doubles two and three. In doubles two Statesmen
Tobias Rausch and Jean Michel Limery defeated Jose Soto and Nestor Perez by a final score of 8-1.
Doubles three saw Sebastian Rajaonary and
Clement Depreeuw of DSU get the 8-4 win over Guillermo Reyes and Raphael Oliveira of UAH.
The Statesmen recorded three wins in singles play as
Guillaume Lacour defeated the Chargers Fredrik Groaner by a score of 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. Rausch won singles three over Bruno Medeiros 6-4, 6-2.
Limery sealed the victory for DSU with a win in singles five 6-4, 6-2 over the Chargers Oliveira.
The Statesmen return to the courts Friday, March 29 as they face Morehouse College in Atlanta, Ga. Doubles play is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.
