Men's Soccer Loses on the Road

PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Delta State University men's soccer squad dropped its second straight game to open the season, falling to Saint Leo University by a score of 3-0.

The Statesmen outshot the Lions on the road 13-7 but could not find the back of the net. Saint Leo opened the scoring in the 26th minute on a goal by Javiem Blanchette. The shot was deflected and made its way past DSU's Mack Pytyck in goal.

The second goal came five minutes later, in the 31st minute, on a header off a corner kick by the Lions' Geisthovel Schulze.
Saint Leo led the game at the half 2-0.

The final goal by the Lions came in the 75th minute by Henry Adu off another corner kick for Saint Leo.

Amine Rahmani and Leonardo Rorigues both had good games for the Statesmen as they each had three shots on the afternoon. Bryce Childers also contributed four shots in the game.

Pytyck got the start for Delta State in goal, recording two saves and allowing all three goals. Saint Leo's Michael Schoenhuber recorded seven saves for the Lions.

The Statesmen return to Delta Field in Cleveland for their home opener on Friday, Sept. 13. The match against the University of West Alabama is set to being at 3:30 p.m.
