CLEVELAND, Miss. – The No. 16 Lady Statesmen (17-4, 12-3 GSC) of Delta State University saw their 15 game home winning streak come to an end, as the Flames (16-4, 12-2 GSC) of Lee University defeated DSU 49-34 Thursday, Feb. 13 at Walter Sillers Coliseum. The loss was the first for the Lady Statesmen at home since a 59-58 buzz-beater versus North Alabama on Jan. 5, 2013.
Offensive basketball was hard to find in the first half, as the Flames and Lady Statesmen combined to score 29 points in the game's first 20 minutes. Hitting on 6-of-23 from the floor, Lee led 17-12 at the half, while Delta State made 3-of-21 shots from the floor.

Myiesha Stewart had three points to pace the Lady Statesmen.
After the Lady Statesmen had cut the Flames lead to two, 22-20, with 16:45 to play, Lee went on a decisive 17-4 run over the next 10:34 to take a commanding 39-24 advantage with 6:06 on the clock.
LU was 4-of-9 from the field and 9-of-9 at the free throw during the game-changing stretch.
The Flames would outscore the Lady Statesmen 12-10 over the final six minutes of the contest for the 49-34 victory.
Cold shooting from the floor hampered the Lady Statesmen all night, as DSU made 11-of-46 from the field and just 1-of-11 from 3-point range. While Lee succeed at the free throw line, Delta State made just 11-of-22 for 50 percent.
Walton picked up her 14th double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds. The junior from Clarksdale, Miss., was 4-of-12 from the field and 3-of-4 at the free throw line.
LU finished the game shooting 30 percent from the field on 12-of-40 attempts, including 3-of-16 from 3-point range. The Flames were nearly perfect at the free throw line, making 22-of-23.
German, who also had a team-high nine points, finished with a game-high 16 points, while Rachel Lockhart added 14 points.
DSU's 34 points was the fewest since scoring 37 versus Harding in a 52-37 loss on Jan. 6, 2005 at Sillers Coliseum.
The Lady Statesmen conclude their two game home stand on Monday, Feb. 17, as Delta State hosts Christian Brothers University. The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 11, but was rescheduled due to hazardous traveling conditions. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m. at Walter Sillers Coliseum.
