No. 43 Delta State Loses Two Crucial Matches Against GSC Foes

GULF SHORES, Ala. / PENSACOLA, Fla. –
After recently defeating the University of Alabama in Huntsville at home, the Delta State men's tennis team traveled down to the Gulf Coast to face two top ranked Gulf South Conference opponents, No. 1 West Florida and No. 13 Valdosta State.

The match against Valdosta State was played at the Gulf Coast Tennis Club in Gulf Shores, Ala. due to inclement weather conditions. The Statesmen were only able to win one match against the Blazers of VSU, with Sebastien Rajaonary and Clement Depreeuw picking up an 8-6 victory in doubles competition. The final score between the two schools was 5-1, Valdosta.

Delta State was able to travel on the road Saturday to take on the top ranked Argos of West Florida. Unfortunately, the Statesmen were defeated in a 9-0 rout from UWF. The Green-and-White are now 2-3 in the GSC with an overall record of 4-6. They are also currently ranked 43rd nationally in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll.

The Statesmen will now compete against the Tigers of Stillman College on April 1st at home on DSU's Senior Day. Guillaume Lacour and Florian Mondoloni will be among the seniors honored on that day.
