Entering game one, both teams were evenly matched, as Delta State was one spot behind West Georgia in the No. 6 spot in GSC standings.

The Lady Statesmen got the scoring started first in the top of the third inning. Brook Cline drew the leadoff walk and later advanced to second on a single from Memrie Corley. Two quick outs brought Kaitlin Moore to the plate. Moore dropped a two-RBI double into right center field, scoring both Corley and Cline. The Green-and-White carried their momentum into game two as they took the early 4-0 lead in the first inning when Kassidy Tally got things started with a leadoff single and a stolen base. Mariah Alvarez scored Tally from second to take the 1-0 lead. With runners in scoring position, Madison Zoeller doubled off the right field wall, bringing in Kaitlin Moore and Alvarez and extending the DSU lead to 3-0.
