Results - Alabama-Huntsville
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The first day of the Gulf South Conference Tennis Tournament is complete, and the Delta State men's tennis team came away with a 5-2 victory over the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
The 43
rd ranked Statesmen entered the tournament 8-6 on the season with a 5-3 record in the GSC. Their opponent in the first round was the Chargers of UAH. Delta State's previous encounter with Alabama-Huntsville resulted in the Statesmen coming out on top in a 6-3 win. DSU was able to produce another victory, this time in a 5-2 quarterfinals outcome.
Two victories were secured in doubles play, including an 8-5 win from seniors
Guillaume Lacour and
Florian Mondoloni. In singles action, DSU claimed three more wins.
Arthur Berthiaux won 6-4, 6-2, while
Clement Depreeuw achieved a 6-1, 6-2 victory, with the final singles win coming from Lacour as well.
Delta State will now face No. 1 West Florida in the semifinal round of the tournament. The Statesmen hope to pull off the upset and compete in finals. The match will begin on Friday, April 18
th at 9 AM.
