Lee answered in the second with one run before DSU extended its lead to 5-1 in the fourth inning. Alvarez singled up the middle to bring in Brook Cline, and later the cleanup hitter Amber Adcock hit a single to left center field to drive in Memrie Corley and Moore.

Delta State tacked on another run in the fifth on a solo shot from Cline, for DSU to take the commanding 6-1 lead over the Lady Flames.

The Maroon-and-White made it close by plating two runs in the top of the sixth, cutting the deficit to 6-3, but Delta State held on the 6-3 lead for the win in game one.

Four Lady Statesmen put up 2-for-3 performances in the first game of the double-header, including Kassidy Tally, Madison Zoeller, Brook Cline, and Memrie Corley. Kaitlin Moore and Amber Adcock drove in two runs each while Mariah Alvarez and Brook Cline were responsible for one run apiece.

Senior Miller Maddox improved to 4-5 on the year as she tossed the complete game and earned the win.

A similar start occurred in game two that did in game one. Delta State came out firing in the first inning with two runs. Kaitlin Moore brought Kassidy Tally in to score on an RBI-single up the middle. Later, Moore came around to score on a wild pitch, giving DSU the 2-0 lead.

The Lady Flames responded the next inning, tying the game on a two-run homerun from Jesse Giles. Lee tacked on one run in the fourth and the fifth to add to its lead, 4-2.

The Green-and-White sealed the deal in the bottom of the fourth by adding four runs to the scoreboard. A Lee error put Amber Adcock on base and brought Mariah Alvarez around to score. A three-run homerun by the freshman Madison Zoeller gave Delta State the 6-4 lead with two innings to play.

Both teams were scoreless in the sixth and the Lady Flames threatened in the seventh but were only able to muster up one run, stranding one and handing DSU the 6-5 victory in game two.

Zoeller led in game two, going 3-for-4, scoring one and driving in three runs. Amber Adcock was close behind, going 2-for-4, scoring once and driving in one DSU run. Kassidy Tally picked up four stolen bases in the double-header to stand with 43 on the year.

Macie Wilde (5-7) earned the win in relief, pitching 3.2 innings and giving up two earned runs on five hits.

Delta State returns to the field on Wednesday, April 9 in Tuscaloosa, Ala., as the Lady Statesmen take on Stillman College in double-header action starting at 1:00 p.m.
