GAME NOTES: Delta State vs. Henderson State (1.31.15) CLEVELAND, Miss. – Statesmen basketball at Delta State University are set to host Gulf South Conference action against Union and Christian Brothers. DSU will take on the Bulldogs of Union on Thursday, Jan. 29 at 7:30 p.m. The Bucs of CBU will make the trip to Walter Sillers for a 4:00 p.m. tipoff on Saturday, Jan. 31.

LEADOFFThe Lady Statesmen softball team of Delta State University is eager to take the field after a historical campaign last season, making the program's first appearance in the NCAA Tournament in twelve years.
Head coach
Casey Bourgoyne-Charles enters her seventh season at the helm of the Delta State University Softball program.
Junior
Kaitlin Moore returns at the core of Delta State's offensive attack. The Southaven, Mississippi native is batting .376 in her two seasons as a Lady Statesmen.
Five pitchers, one returning in
Taylor Tucker and four freshmen, round out the pitching staff with a variety of pitching styles.
Three seniors who are all three-year lettermen compile a veteran infield.
Taylor Holland,
Brook Cline and
Amber Adcock return with the most experience on the squad.
Three starting juniors return to an experienced outfield regime.
Kassidy Tally will hold down left field as the reigning record holder in the Gulf South Conference and Delta State for most stolen bases in a single season. She went 74-for-76 on the base path in 2014.
Memrie Corley and
Mariah Alvarez complete the outfield from center to right and both finished last season batting over. 300.
Sophomore
Madison Zoeller returns behind the plate to direct the pitching staff after catching 57 games last season with as many starts.
Delta State was picked to finish sixth in the Gulf South Conference this season. Moore and Tally earned Preseason All-GSC honors.
