Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Rhandi Ball, Delta State, and Christian Brothers' Rachel Lee were named the Gulf South Conference Women's Basketball Player and Freshman of the Week, respectively on Tuesday.
Ball scored 21 points, grabbed nine rebounds and dished out four assists in a win over North Alabama last week. She went 7-12 (58-percent) from the field and scored the decisive layup with 11 seconds left in the game as the Lady Statemen erased a 20-point first-half deficit. Ball scored 18 points and collected nine rebounds in DSU's 67-49 win over Alabama Huntsville on Monday night, helping the Lady Statesmen sweep a two-game league road trip. The Pontotoc, Miss., native is second on the team in scoring (12.7 ppg.) and rebounding (6.0 rpg.) Ball entered 2013-14 as a preseason All-GSC selection and earned spots on both the Academic Honor Roll and All-GSC Academic Team. She played and started all 30 games last season.
Rachel Lee (Jackson, Tenn.), recorded 13 points, eight rebounds and four assists over two games last week, including 11 points and six rebounds with two assists against nationally ranked Harding University.
