PENSACOLA, Florida – Alex Coyne scored 19 points and had seven assists to lead the University of West Florida (6-4, 4-2 GSC) to a 57-54 win over No. 22/16 Delta State University (8-1, 5-1 GSC) on Saturday at the UWF Field House.

How It Happened- Chelsey Rhodes made two free throws to give the Lady Statesmen an 8-4 lead with 5:24 left in the first quarter. West Florida outscored DSU 14-2 to close out the first quarter, taking an 18-10 lead after an Alex Coyne 3-pointer with one second left.
- West Florida opened the second period on an 8-2 run to build a 26-12 lead after a Kelly Preston layup at the 7:08 mark.
- The Lady Statesmen answered with a 12-0 run to trim the deficit to 26-24 on a Rhodes three-point play with 2:15 to go before halftime.
- A Katie Bobos layup with 11 seconds left gave UWF a 32-27 halftime edge.
- The Lady Statesmen climed to within two, 43-41, on a Rhodes basket with 14 seconds remaining in the third quarter.
- A Courtney Meyer jumper with three seconds left gave UWF a 45-41 lead heading into the final quarter.
- An Alondrea Rush basket got the Lady Statesmen to within three points, 51-48, with 2:15 remaining only to see UWF respond with a 5-0 run to stretch the lead to 56-48 at the 1:11 mark.
- Jasmine Wigfall made 1-of-2 free throws with six seconds left to give UWF a 57-52 lead.
- Anissa Jackson hit a shot just before the final buzzer to make the final score 57-54.
- Rhodes led DSU with 16 points along with three assists followed by Aspriona Gilbert with 11 and Jackson with 10. Becca Ruckes and Mary Carol Davis had six rebounds apiece.
- Coyne led UWF with 19 points and seven assists, while Bobos finished with 18 points and nine rebounds. Meyer finished with eight points and nine rebounds.
Notables - The Lady Statesmen fell to 4-1 overall and 3-1 in the GSC on the road this season.
- Rhodes remains 19th on the DSU all-time scoring list with 1,375 points and needs two points to pass Anita Robinson (1987-90) for 18th with 1,376 points. The senior guard went 1-for-1 from beyond the arc and is now 172-of-492 for her career. The Monticello, Ark., native needs three attempts to pass Amber Gean (2001-05) for third in career 3-point field goals attempted.
- West Florida has won three straight games in the series dating back to a 52-41 win on March 1, 2014 in Cleveland, Miss.
