LEADOFFAfter almost a two-week break from the diamond, the Lady Statesmen softball team will be back on the field in Valdosta, Ga. as they take on the Blazers of Valdosta State for their second conference series of the year.
Delta State will face the league's second leading hitter in Courtney Albritton and three-time GSC Pitcher of the Week Caitlyn Calhoun.
Albritton is batting second in the league in batting average (.569) behind DSU's
Amber Adcock who holds the top spot with a .647 batting average. Albritton and Adcock hold the top two spots in almost every batting category, but Albritton leads the conference in hits (29), slugging percentage (1.196), and runs scored (27), while Adcock leads in batting average and on base percentage (.698)
The Lady Statesmen rank first in the GSC in hitting with a combined .354 batting average. Valdosta ranks second in pitching with a 1.83 ERA and fielding with a .979 percentage.
Junior
Kassidy Tally currently ranks second in the DSU record books and the GSC for stolen bases in a career with 123. She is 12 shy of tying Alyse Hasty's record of 135.
After the trip to Valdosta, Delta State will travel to Memphis, Tenn. to face the Bucs of Christian Brothers. A doubleheader starting 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 7 will open the series, with game three starting at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 8.
