Statesmen Tennis Team Suffers 5-4 Defeat to No. 39 West Alabama

ORANGE BEACH, Ala. - The Delta State men's tennis team took to the road on Thursday, March 26th to take on Gulf South Conference opponent and 39th ranked University of West Alabama. Heavy thunderstorms kept both teams at bay, as the match had to be completed the following Friday morning. The Statesmen (4-4, 2-2 GSC) dropped to two doubles matches, but were able to pick up a 9-7 win, with Lionel Gazzo and Clement Depreeuw defeating Andril Stratilenko and Christopher Woods. Gazzo, Depreeuw and Arthur Berthiaux then split in singles action with the Tigers (5-4, 3-3 GSC), allowing West Alabama to gain the upper-hand, defeating DSU, 5-4.

Delta State will head to Pensacola, Fla. this afternoon to face No. 10 Valdosta State University.
