Delta State University softball (22-18, 8-12 GSC) plays host to Shorter University (27-10, 17-9 GSC) this weekend in Gulf South Conference action.

The Lady Statesmen offense ranks third in the league in hitting with an overall .320 batting average.

Shorter currently holds the No. 4 spot in the conference standings as a first-year NCAA Division II member. The Hawks are also 5th in the South Region.

DSU is coming off a doubleheader split with Arkansas-Monticello earlier this week. The Green-and-White suffered a 14-7 loss in game one but bounced back to win game two 9-1 in six innings.

Senior Amber Adcock leads the Delta State offense and the league with a .438 batting average. She and junior Kassidy Tally are the top two hitters for the Lady Statesmen, hitting over .400. Tally holds a .423 average. Five others are batting over .300- Kaitlin Moore (.360), Kory Watterson (.337), Mariah Alvarez (.320), Memrie Corley (.314), and Taylor Holland (.312).

Senior Paige Rowland, who is hitting .389, leads the Hawks offensively. Pitcher Maddie Bray is SU's ace in the circle with a 1.85 ERA.

Adcock continues to climb in the DSU record books. The senior infielder ranks first in career doubles (49), second in career hits (239), and third with most RBIs (136).

Junior Tally continues to build on her record for most stolen bases in a career at Delta State and in the GSC. She now has 158 and has only been caught stealing 11 times over three years. The 5-foot-8 speedster is in the hunt for another record, career runs scored. She ranks fifth with 126 and is looking to pass Meredith Coleman (2003-06) in the four spot with 128.

Sunday represents Senior Day for six Lady Statesmen. Adcock, Holland, Brook Cline, Andrea Cutts, Ashley Mrozinski, and Ellen Tarrant will be honored at 12:30 p.m. before the start of the doubleheader at 1 p.m.
