@DSUBaseball HOW IT HAPPENED - Delta State scored two runs in the first and nine in the second to take an early 11-0 lead before adding one run in the fifth and seven to end the game due to the NCAA 10-run rule.
- Brandon Cummins went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored and Ben Pickard was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored to lead the Statesmen offensively.
- Trent Giambrone had two hits and an RBI and Ethan Gill recorded two hits, one RBI, and four runs scored.
- Dalton Skelton, Hunter Twitty, Josh Paden, Austin McClain, Marc McMillian, Jonathan Andrews and Juan Rivera had one hit apiece.
- Jake Brumfield (1-0) recorded career-high five strikeouts in a career-high four innings pitched to earn his first win as a Statesman. Brumfield allowed no runs on one hit combining with Witt Haggard and Trevor Blocker for the two-hit shutout. Haggard had three strikeouts in two innings pitched while Blocker allowed one hit with a strikeout in a scoreless seventh.
- Will Rutledge gave up four runs on four and hit four batters in one inning of work as the pitcher of record for CBU.
