Men's Soccer to Host Mississippi College and LSU-Alexandria

CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State University men's soccer team will host Mississippi College on Wednesday Sept. 16 in its first Gulf South Conference contest before ending the week with a non-conference match with LSU-Alexandria on Sunday, Sept. 20.
 
ABOUT DSU:
 
  • Following a pair of setbacks at the Wyndham Deerfield Beach Men's Soccer Classic, the Statesmen enter play 0-3.
  • Amine Rahmani needs just one point to move into second in the DSU record book. Rahmani, who is the school record holder with 13 assists, has collected 31 points during his career. His 14 points in 2014 tied for 10th in single-season program history.
  • Brock Hollier scored his first goal of the season on Sept. 12 versus Palm Beach Atlantic. It was the third goal of his career and the first that was not a match-winner.
  • Statesmen goalkeepers Jacob Hauenstein and Jonathan Hilton have combined to lead the GSC with 7.67 saves per game.
 
 
 
ABOUT MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE:
  • The Choctaws enter play with a 0-3 record. MC dropped a 3-1 decision to Nova Southeastern to open the season before falling 1-0 in two straight matches to Florida Tech and Barry.
  • Kendall Carballo tallied the only goal for the Choctaws.
  • MC has been outshot 44-23. Humberto Pelaez has a 1.80 goals against average and has recorded 15 saves. 
 
 
 
ABOUT LSUA:
  • The Generals enter the DSU match with a 1-4-1 mark.
  • LSUA suffered setbacks at the Auburn-Montgomery Tournament versus Georgia Gwinnett College and AUM, then in road contests at Lyon College and Bethel, before earning a 1-1 draw at Texas-Tyler.
  • The Generals earned their first victory of the season in a 7-0 decision versus Louisiana College on Tuesday, Sept. 15.
  • LSUA has been outscored 18-6. All six goals were scored by different players.
 
 
INSIDE THE SERIES:
 
  • DSU is 3-4-0 all-time versus Mississippi College.The Statesmen claimed the last meeting, 4-2, in Clinton on Sept. 16, 2015. 
  • The Statesmen have met LSUA one previous occasion, which was a 2-0 victory on Sept. 22, 2015.
