TWITTER UPDATESCLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State University men's soccer team is set to host a pair of Gulf South Conference opponents this weekend. Play begins Friday Sept. 25, with a 3:30 p.m. contest versus the University of West Alabama, before ending the week with the University of Alabama in Huntsville on Sunday, Sept. 27.  
ABOUT DSU:- The Statesmen have won two straight contests, claiming a 3-1 victory over in-state rival Mississippi College on Sept. 16, and a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over LSU-Alexandria on Sept. 20.
- Captain Daniel Deblaere assisted on two goals in the victory over the Choctaws. Deblaere now has 10 assists for his career, which ranks second in school history, behind teammate Amine Rahmani (13).
- Luke Mason and Jaxon Lambert both scored their second goals of the season in the victory over LSUA. Mason also collected the assist on Lambert's match-winner. Lambert scored goals in back-to-back matches, both contests the senior came on as a substitute.
- Jacob Hauenstein leads the team with 14 saves (4.67 per game), which ranks fourth in the GSC.
- The Statesmen are looking to start 2-0 in the GSC for the first time since 2012, when they recorded victories over Shorter and Alabama Huntsville.
ABOUT WEST ALABAMA:- The Tigers enter play with a 1-4-1 record. West Alabama picked up its lone victory of the season on Sept. 7 in a 3-2 decision over Nova Southeastern.
- Clay Green (2) is the only UWA player with multiple goals. Four other players have scored for the Tigers.
- West Alabama, which started its program in 2012, won the GSC Tournament in 2014. The Tigers have not lost more than seven games in any of their three seasons.
- The Tigers rank last in the GSC, among eligible teams, with 8.17 shots per games.
ABOUT ALABAMA HUNTSVILLE:- The Chargers begin play this weekend with 2-3 record to start the year. In its last outing, UAH defeated North Georgia 3-0.
- UAH leads the GSC and is fifth in NCAA Division II with 4.20 goals per game. Jordan Wright leads the way with seven tallies.
- The Chargers cruised to a 14-0 victory over Oakwood (Ala.), but have scored more than two goals on one other occasion.
- UAH returned 13 players from its team that finished 13-4-2 in 2014.
INSIDE THE SERIES:- The Statesmen are 1-3-1 all-time against West Alabama. The only victory for DSU was in a 3-1 decision on Oct. 19, 2012. UWA claimed a 2-1-overtime victory in the last matchup on Sept. 26, 2014.
- DSU is 2-13 in its series with Alabama Huntsville. The Chargers won a pair of 2-1 overtime decisions in 2014, which includes a loss in the GSC Tournament quarterfinals.
