MONTICELLO, Ark. – The Delta State University men's basketball team fell 77-67 on the road at the University of Arkansas at Monticello at Steelman Fieldhouse Sunday night.

How It Happened
- Arkansas-Monticello was off to a fast start offensively with a 9-1 run in the first three minutes.
- UAM continued scoring throughout the first seven minutes of the first half going on an 8-0 run after a DSU free throw.
- Dietrich Taylor and Devin Schmidt got points on the board after Taylor hit a layup and Schmidt hit a three to close the gap to 13 points at the 13:11 mark.
- UAM continued their scoring inside of 10 minutes to go int he first half, going on 6-0 run just before the five-minute mark.
- Brett Warner hit back-to-back jumpers and a three late in the first half to close the gap back to 12.
- UAM led the Statesmen 41-26 as both teams went into the locker room.
- Warner led DSU with seven points while Cedric Harper, James Kilpatrick and Schmidt all had five points apiece in the opening half. Cobe Goosby led UAM with 11 first half points. DSU collected 18 first half boards, while UAM collected 19.
- DSU shot 31 percent (9-of-29) from the floor in the first half, including 6-for-10 from the free throw line.
- UAM was 15-for-30 (50 percent) from the floor and 5-for-12 beyond the arc in the opening half.
- Both offenses were slow to start the second half with DSU shooting 1-for-3 and UAM shooting 0-for-4 at the 17-minute mark.
- Warner got the offense going after rebounding his missed shot for a layup while PJ Davis put back a dunk, but the Statesmen found themselves down 16 points at the 15:50 mark.
- With 10:49 left in the second half, the Statesmen trailed the Weevils 59-39 after a three by Karim Mawunyega.
- Late in the second half, DSU went on a 7-0 scoring run that ended when Goosby made a pair of free throws.
- Davis hit back-to-back layups and a trio of free throws from Schmidt with less than a minute to go in the game closed the gap to eight points, but it as too little too late, as the Weevils held on for the victory.
- The Statesmen finished 24-of-62 (39 percent) including 15-of-22 from the free throw line, while Arkansas-Monticello was 24-of-55 (44 percent) from the field.
- Warner led DSU with 17 points, while Schmidt finished with 16. Harper finished with 11 and Davis finished with 10 and led the team with eight boards. Mawunyega led UAM with 23 points and five rebounds.

- The Statesmen scored a season low 26 points in the first half and a season low 67 points in the game.
