CLEVELAND, Mississippi - With victories over Southern Arkansas and Miles College under their belt, the Delta State University Lady Statesmen basketball team is set to begin the Gulf South Conference season in Clinton, Miss. at A.E. Wood Coliseum against the Lady Choctaws of Mississippi College.

TIP-OFF NEWS AND NOTES
- This will be the 60th meeting all- time between the two institutions with Delta State holding a commanding 51-8 series advantage, including wins in the last three meetings. The Lady Statesmen have posted a record of 20-4 in games in Clinton.
- Senior Kaelin Kneeland is coming off of a monster performance against Miles College. Kneeland poured in a career high 22 points, pulled down six rebounds and also dished out a career high five assists in the 76-52 win over the Golden Bears.
- Sopohomore point guard Alondrea Rush has continued to be a force for Delta State in her second season, averaging 11.5 points per game, 2.0 rebounds per game, 2.3 assists and 3.2 steals per contest.
- The Lady Statemen have out-rebounded all four of their opponents on the season, with senior post players Kneeland and Aspriona Gilbert leading the charge at 7.3 rebounds per game and 6.0 rebounds per game, respectively.
- Delta State brings the GSC's 3rd ranked scoring defense into their tilt with Mississippi College, a year removed from sporting the No 1. defense in the GSC and in NCAA Division II last season (50.3 points per game).
- Mississippi College is off to a 1-1 start, splitting home games with Lane College (lost 69-66) and Henderson State (won 74-72). The Lady Choctaws have three players averaging in double figures, including seniors Toni Woods (14.0 ppg, 14.0 rpg) and Ashley Minor (11.0 ppg and 3.0 rpg) and junior Cortrice Golden (12.0 ppg, 7.5 rpg).

After their road game at Mississippi College, DSU will have nine days until their next contest, which comes on Sat. December 10 in another matchup with Miles College. The game will tip at 2 p.m. and will be played in Fairfield, Alabama at Knox-Windham Gym.
