CLEVELAND, Mississippi – The Delta State University women's basketball team held Union University to just two points in the third quarter to earn a 51-41 Gulf South Conference victory, on Saturday afternoon at Walter Sillers Coliseum.

How It Happened:
- The Lady Statesmen opened the contest on a 7-0 run, using a pair of buckets by Kaelin Kneeland.
- DSU held the visitors without a field goal until Bria Gaines knocked down a jumper with 5:32 left in the quarter.
- The Lady Statesmen took advantage on the glass, grabbing 11 offensive rebounds in the first quarter.
- Union trimmed the DSU lead to 13-10 at the end of the first quarter, and took its first lead of the game at 17-16, on a layup by Jada Perkins.
- The teams traded the lead, before Perkins gave the Lady Bulldogs a 25-24 lead going into halftime.
- Union shot 11-of-24 (45.8 percent) in the first half, while DSU was just 11-of-30 (36.7 percent). Gaines led the Lady Bulldogs with 12 points on 6-of-7 from the floor. Kneeland led DSU with six points and five rebounds.
- The Lady Statesmen held a commanding 23-11 edge on the glass, which included 13 offensive boards, leading to nine second chance points.
- DSU stormed out of the locker room, going on a 12-2 run, holding Union to just one field goal in the quarter.
