Lady Statesmen Close Regular Season At Mississippi College

CLEVELAND, Miss.– The Delta State University (18-6, 15-6) women's basketball closes out the 2015-16 regular season against rival Mississippi College (5-19, 3-18 GSC) on Thursday in Clinton, Miss.

Lee, Shorter and Delta State are tied for second with 15-6 GSC records entering the final game of the regular season. DSU has secured a home game for GSC Super Tuesday against an opponent to be determined but can earn the second seed with a win over Mississippi College.    

Lee's Haris Price made a layup with 0.2 seconds left to gave the Flames a 54-53 win over Delta State (2.20.16) on Saturday.  Chelsey Rhodes had 16 points and  a career-high six assists. Anissa Jackson scored 12 points and pulled down seven rebounds and Becca Ruckes had a team-high eight boards.

Rhodes scored 50 points in two games last week moved the senior into sixth place on the DSU all-time scoring list with 1,673 points, passing

Tanya Redmond (1,662/7th/1995-98) and Caroline Boclair (1,663/6th/1998-01) for sixth. The Monticello, Ark., native is 193-of-583 from 3-point range for her career, ranking second all-time in both categories.

Delta State's 74.4 free throw percentage is second in the GSC and 37th nationally while Rhodes' 82.4 free throw percentage is second in the GSC and 74th nationally.
