Juwan Burney's 3-for-4, four-RBI plate performance and
Justin Vincent's career-high 10 strikeouts led Delta State University to a series clinching win in a 17-3 victory over Lee University in game three on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED- Delta State brought the bats out for the series finale, scoring seven runs on five hits before recording an out. DSU totaled 11 runs in the first inning on eight hits with RBIs from six different Statesmen to go up 11-0.
- The Flames tacked on a one spot in the top of the second courtesy of a Geremy Walton home run, notching the score at 11-1.
- Colton Welch launched a missile in the bottom of the fourth, his third homer and sixth RBI of the weekend, to extend the DSU lead, 12-1.
- Lee's Brayden Ware matched Welch's homer with one of his own, setting the score at 12-2 in the top of the fifth.
- DSU added five more runs on four hits in the bottom frame with RBIs from Ethan Gill, Jacob Swiney, Juwan Burney, and Brandon Cummins. The Statesmen took a 17-2 lead into the sixth.
- Another Lee solo home run from Ben Holland made the score 17-3 in favor of DSU in the top of the sixth. Holland's long ball tallied his fourth of the series.
- With the mercy rule in effect, Lee's last at-bat came in the top of the seventh inning. Justin Vincent retired the side in order for Delta State to pick up the 17-3 win and take the series from Lee.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORES- The Green-and-White recorded a season-high 11 runs in one inning, breaking their eight-run innings against Arkansas-Monticello and West Alabama.
- Seven Statesmen recorded multiple hits in the offensive rampage, including four with multiple RBIs.
- Redshirt freshman Juwan Burney led DSU's offense, going 3-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs, all career-highs.
- Junior LHP Justin Vincent (2-0) recorded a career-high 10 strikeouts in his fourth appearance of the season. The three runs allowed all came from solo homeruns. The Benton, Ark., native allowed only four hits.
- Jacob Swiney exteneded his hitting streak to eight in his 2-for-4 day, while Erick Santiago extended his to seven.
