CARROLLTON, Ga. – Delta State University (12-9, 6-5 GSC) dropped a Gulf South Conference doubleheader to the University of West Georgia (14-5, 6-5 GSC) by the scores of 8-2 and 4-3 on Friday at Cole Field. The Wolves earned the win in the nightcap on a walk off single by Caleb Lopes in extra innings.

HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 1)- Brandon Cummins and Trent Giambrone singled to open the first inning but a double play and a pop up ended the early threat.
- Caleb Lopes hit a solo home run and Artemis Kadkhodaian belted a two-run home run to highlight a four-run first to give the Wolves a 4-0 lead.
- West Georgia added a run in the third on a Ben Utley RBI single to make the score 5-0.
- Giambrone belted a solo home run in the sixth and doubled and scored on an Ethan Gill single in the eighth to cut the UWG lead to 5-2.
- The Wolves added three runs in the eighth to push the lead to 8-2. Payton Mann had an RBI triple followed by RBI singles from pinch hitter Cade Marlow and Garrett Hayes.

HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 2)- Jacob Swiney and Matt Barrett delivered RBI singles to help the Statesmen jump to a 2-0 lead in the second inning.
- West Georgia tied the game in the third on an RBI single by Lopes and a Payton Mann solo home run.
- The scored remained tied into the eighth inning. Will Robertson led the inning off with a single and scored on a Colton Welch sac-fly but left two runners in scoring position when the inning ended.
- The Wolves answered with two runs in the bottom of eighth. Ben Utley tied the game on a sac fly with the bases loaded to set up Lopes' walk off single to end the game in extra innings.
