Will Robertson roped three doubles and collected five RBIs to lead Delta State University (25-11, 17-5 GSC) to a 10-6 win over Shorter University (13-23, 6-17 GSC) in the nightcap of a doubleheader on Saturday at the Ledbetter Baseball Complex. Shorter claimed a 5-3 win in game one.

HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 1)
- Shorter took a 1-0 lead in the third inning. Dustin Lawson struck out swinging but reached on a wild pitch before scoring on a Jerry Liang single.
- Erick Santiago singled and scored on a Will Robertson RBI single to tie the game 1-1 in the fifth.
- Shorter answered with three runs in the bottom of the fifth, highlighted by a Raul Cortes' 2-RBI double home. The centerfielder then scored on a wild pitch to cap the 3-run frame.
- Brandon Cummins doubled and scored on a Giambrone double in the seventh to cut the SU lead to 4-2.
- Patrick Sanderson led off the bottom of the seventh with a solo home run to extend the Shorter lead out to 5-2.
- Robertson doubled to left field allowing Santiago to score in the ninth to trim the deficit to 5-3.
- Shorter pitcher Tyler Cates entered the game to outs and recorded a strikeout with the bases loaded to close the game and record his first save for the Hawks.
- SU's Jacob Ramos (4-2) worked 6.2 innings allowing two runs on five hits with four strikeouts to earn the win.
- Justin Vincent (4-2) gave up four runs on three hits with five strikeouts as the pitcher of record for the Statesmen.
HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 2)
- The Statesmen scored two runs in the first and four runs in the second to take an early 6-0 lead. Robertson reached on an error and a run crossed the plate when Colton Welch drew a bases loaded walk in the first. Robertson had a two-run double and Ethan Gill hit a two-run home run in the second.
- The Hawks cut the lead to 6-4 with three runs in the third and one in the fourth. Lawson highlighted the fourth with a solo home run.
- A Robertson RBI double scored Cummins in the fourth and Santiago belted a solo home run in the fifth to extend the DSU lead to 8-4.
- After SU cut the lead to 8-5, Robertson doubled home Cummins and Robertson scored when Ben Pickard reached on a fielders choice to push the lead to 10-5 in the sixth.
- Greg Gladden's sac-fly cut the DSU lead to 10-6 in the seventh before Tre Hobbs recorded a strikeout and a ground out to finish the game.
- Hobbs (9-10) recorded eight strikeouts while yielding six runs, four earned, on eight hits for the Statesmen.
- SU starter Jacob Famer (2-6) suffered the game two loss, allowing six runs, five earned, on five hits with two strikeouts.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORES
- The Statesmen had a four-game winning streak and a 10-game GSC winning streak snapped in game one.
- Robertson went 5-for-9 with seven RBIs in the doubleheader that included going 3-for-4 with five RBIs in game two. Robertson has 24 RBIs in the last seven games.
- DSU batters were hit by a pitch four times in the doubleheader pushing their season total 64, third in the GSC and sixth nationally.
- Robertson's three doubles in game two was one shy of the DSU single game record held by Marcus Van Every (four at Nicholls State, 2001).
