Dalton Moats recorded 10 strikeouts over seven innings to help Delta State University (26-11, 18-5 GSC) claim a 9-0 series clinching win over Shorter University (13-24, 6-18 GSC) on Sunday at the Ledbetter Baseball Complex.
Ben Pickard (3) and
Colton Welch (2) combined for five RBIs to lead the Statesmen offensively.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Statesmen pushed three runs across in the first to take a 3-0. Trent Giambrone doubled and scored on an Ethan Gill sac-fly and Ben Pickard and Colton Welch followed Gill with RBI singles in the first.
- Two runs crossed in the third inning to extend the lead to 5-0. A Welch sac-fly and a Santiago RBI single produced fourth inning runs.
- The Statesmen added four runs in the ninth to push extend the lead to 9-0. Pickard had a two-run single and two runs crossed the plate on a ground out and a hit by a pitch with the base loaded.
- Pickard went 2-for-4 with three RBIs while Santiago and Giambrone had two hits apiece to lead the Statesmen 12-hit attack.
- Dalton Moats (6-2) earned the win for the Statesmen, recording 10 strikeouts and scattering five hits over seven scoreless innings of work.
- Shorter's Mason Long (0-2) took the loss, allowing five runs on seven hits with a strikeout in 2.1 innings.
- Corey Beard worked a scoreless eighth with a strikeout and Jake Brumfield struck out the side in the ninth to seal the win.
