Will Robertson each had two RBIs to lead No. 14 Delta State University (39-15) to a 6-1 win over fifth seed Lynn University (29-22) in the opening game of the NCAA Division II South Region Tournament on Thursday at the Tampa Baseball Complex. DSU starter
Dalton Moats struck out five and scattered three hits over six scoreless innings for his 11
th win on the mound for the Statesmen.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- With two runners on in the bottom of the first, Colton Welch singled through the right side to bring home Brandon Cummins and give DSU a 1-0 lead.
- The Statesmen added three-runs in the seventh, all with two outs, as Ben Pickard drove a 3-2 pitch into left field to bring in a pair and Welch followed with an RBI single up the middle.
- Will Robertson gave DSU its final runs of the game, as he drove in a pair with a single to left, extending the Statesmen lead to 6-0 going to the ninth.
- Lynn scored its lone run on an Alex Turner RBI single in the ninth. Jacob Brumfield got Donovan Christman to fly out to right to end the threat.
- Dalton Moats (11-3) struck out five while scattering three hits over six scoreless innings.
- Jacob Howell had four strikeouts and allowed one run on two hits in two innings of relief.
- Donovan Armas (5-3) pitched 6.2 innings, giving up four runs on six hits with two strikeouts and two walks as the pitcher of record for the Knights.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Four-of-six Statesmen runs were scored with two outs.
- Moats' 11 wins ties him for seventh on the DSU single season wins list. The Kansas City, Mo., native had five strikeouts, passing Josh Branstetter (104/2012) for fifth place on the single season strikeouts list with 105.
- The win halted a three-game NCAA South Regional losing streak for the Statesmen.
- The Green-and-White improved to 3-1-1 against Lynn University and to 1-0 in NCAA postseason play.
- Pickard's three hits and two RBIs were his 14th multi-RBI and 22nd multi-hit game this season.
- Welch had two hits and two RBIs for his 19th multi-hit and ninth multi-RBI game this year.
- Robertson's two RBIs in the eighth marked his team-best 22nd multi-RBI game of the year.
- Statesmen Head Coach Mike Kinnison now has 849 career victories and improved to 40-24 in NCAA tournament games.
