CLEVELAND, Miss. – Delta State University men's basketball announced the addition of six players to its roster for 2016-17.
Harper
Cedric Harper (6-foot-6 | 205) transfers from Holmes Community College, where he averaged 13.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game in his career as a post player. Harper helped HCC make an Elite Eight run at the National Tournament last season and repeated as North Division Champions this season in the MACJC. In Harper's two years at Holmes, the Bulldogs were a combined 43-14. He received MACJC Second Team All-State honors.
Taylor
Also joining the squad from Holmes is Dietrich Taylor (6-foot-5 | 215). Taylor averaged 5.6 points and 3.3 rebounds per game in his career as a Bulldog. He was a member of the Elite Eight run and a two-time North Division Champion in the MACJC. The Jackson native was also a three-time state champion at Callaway High School.
Henry
Ravion Henry (6-foot-4 | 185) is a junior transfer from East Central Community College, where he averaged 11.8 points and 3.6 rebounds per game for his career and shot 52.3 percent from the field. The guard was awarded the Most Valuable Defense Award, was an MACJC All-Star Game participant and received the prestigious Howard Sessums Award at ECCC, which is awarded to athletes with great character both on and off the floor.
Boatman
Quintares Boatman (6-foot-2 | 185), an incoming freshman guard from Gentry High School in Indianola, averaged a double-double 18.4 points and 11.1 rebounds per game last season under former Statesman, Chico Potts. Boatman garnered several postseason awards after leading his team to a 26-6 record and the quarterfinals of Class 4A State Tournament, including Third Team All-State, District Player of the Year and Team MVP. He also ranked third in the state with 185 made free throws and tallied 26 double-doubles on the year. Over the past two season, he led his team to a 53-16 record.
Kimble
Brandon Kimble (6-foot-6 | 170) will join the squad from Indianola Academy as a forward. In his senior season, Kimble averaged 13.3 points, 9.3 rebounds and 3.8 blocks per game, while earning several postseason awards after leading his team to a 29-2 record on the way to the MAIS AAA State Championship. Kimble was named MAIS AAA District 1 MVP, MAIS All-AAA Team and an MAIS All-Star. A three-time all-conference performer, Kimble helped his team to a combined 53-6 record in two seasons.
