Ethan Gill and
Trent Giambrone had three RBIs apiece to lead No. 15 Delta State University (36-15) to an 8-7 win over University of West Georgia (38-13) in the GSC Tournament on Sunday at Jim Spooner Field. The Statesmen remain unbeaten in the Tournament and will play the winner of West Florida vs. West Georgia on Monday at 7 p.m.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Statesmen got off to a quick 4-0 lead in the first. Trent Giambrone put the Statesmen up 1-0 with an RBI-single to plate Brandon Cummins and Ethan Gill hit a three-run home run to make the score 4-0.
- A Juwan Burney RBI single scored Jacob Swiney and extended the lead to 5-0 in the third frame.
- Artemis Kadkhodian hit a solo home run and Garrett Hayes had a two-run single during a four-run third that cut the DSU lead to 5-4.
- Statesmen starter Tre Hobbs got a pair of fielder's choice groundouts to end a Wolves' bases loaded threat in the fourth to protect a 5-4 lead.
- Burney drew a one out walk and came around on a Giambrone double to push the DSU lead to 6-4 in fifth.
- Payton Mann tied the game, 6-6, with a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth.
- The Wolves took a 7-6 lead on a Kevin Buckhault RBI single in the sixth.
- Delta State answered with a two-run seventh frame. Giambrone delivered an RBI single and Will Robertson sac-fly regain the lead for the Statesmen, 8-7.
- Jake Brumfield entered in the ninth with a runner on base, and recorded a fly out and a ground out to record his fourth save.
- Zach Osbon (3-0) earned the win in relief of Hobbs, yielding no runs on two hits with three strikeouts in 2.2 innings.
- Tritt Fennell (3-3) allowed two runs on a hit and had two strikeouts as the Wolves pitcher of record.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORES
- DSU pounded out 13 hits in the game, recording double digit hits for the 33rd time in 51 games this season.
- Giambrone's three RBIs marked his 24th multi-RBI game this season and gives six RBIs for the GSC Tournament.
- Ethan Gill's three RBIs marked his sixth three-RBI game this season.
- The Statesmen improved to 9-5 in one-run games and 28-7 when scoring in the first inning.
