CLEVELAND, Mississippi - After splitting a pair of contests versus Union and Christian Brothers, and allowing an average of just 47 points, the Delta State University women's basketball team will play host to West Georgia and West Alabama in a Saturday-Monday set.

TIP-OFF NEWS AND NOTES
- This will be the 39th meeting all-time between the Lady Statesmen and West Georgia, with DSU leading the series 33-5. Delta State has control of the all-time series against West Alabama as well, owning a 48-5 record against the Tigers.
- The Lady Statesmen boast the Gulf South's second best scoring defense mark, holding opponents to 56.8 points per game. DSU also boasts the best rebounding defense mark, as opponents are only pulling down just 31.2 rebounds per game.
- Sophomore point guard Alondrea Rush continues to lead the charge for Delta State. Rush is averaging a team best 12.0 points. She also leads the team in assists (2.9), steals (2.1), minutes played (34.7) and three-point field goals.
- Seniors Aspriona Gilbert and Kaelin Kneeland have held things down in the post for the Lady Statesmen. Gilbert is second on the team with 10.3 points per game and is averaging 5.1 rebounds per contest. Kneeland is averaging 10.1 points and is the team's leading rebounder at 7.5 rebounds per game.
- West Georgia is one of four teams out to a 4-1 start in Gulf South Conference play this season. UWG is third in the league in field goal percentage defense, holding teams to 36.5% shooting. They are also fourth in the league in scoring defense, holding teams to 59.9 points per game. The Wolves also rank as the top team in the GSC when it comes to blocks, averaging 5.1 per game.
- De'Ashia Jones, a Newark, N.J., native, is 4th in the GSC in scoring at 15.6 points per game to pace the Wolves. Jones is also 4th in the GSC in rebounding, with 10 per game, while leading the GSC in blocks with 3.2 per contest.
- West Alabama sports a 4-8 and a 1-4 mark coming into action against Delta State. Ariel Wilson, a Brandon, Miss. product, leads the way for the Tigers with 15.3 points per game, the eighth best mark in the conference. She also chips in 4.7 rebounds and leads the team with 3.5 assists per game, which also ranks seventh in the GSC.
