CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State University women's basketball team survived a furious second half comeback, and held on for a 61-58 victory over visiting Christian Brothers, in Gulf South Conference action on Thursday night at Walter Sillers Coliseum.

TURNING POINT:
- After Christian Brothers went on a 13-0 run to grab a 47-46 lead with 5:40 left, the Lady Statesmen held CBU to just one field goal in the last 3:30.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- DSU finished the contest 24-of-48 from the floor, including 7-of-16 from three point range.
- After shooting just 30 percent in the first half, CBU was 14-of-27 in the second to finish 22-of-53 (41.5).
- The Lady Statesmen finished the game with a slim 23-21 advantage on the glass.
- Alondrea Rush led the Lady Statesmen with 21 points, eight rebounds and four assists. After scoring just two points through three quarters, Rafaella Angelidou led CBU with 15.
INSIDE THE FLOW:
- Leading 8-6 after the first 5:01, the Lady Statesmen ended the first quarter on a 9-0 run. DSU shot 7-of-
14 in the first frame, including 3-of-6 from three-point range. DSU held the visitors to
just 3-of-13 (23.1 percent) from the floor.
- The Lady Statesmen continued their hot shooting in the second quarter, going 6-of-9, to take a 32-19
lead into halftime. DSU was 4-of-8 from long-range in the first half, while holding CBU
to just 2-of-13 (15 percent).The Lady Bucs went on a 4:41 scoring drought in the first half, leading to
just 8-of-26 (30.8 percent) from the floor. Alondrea Rush led DSU with 11 points and
five rebounds in the opening 20 minutes
- After trailing by as many as 18 in the opening stages of the third period, CBU went on a 12-4 run in
the last 3:58 to get to within 46-34 at the end of the quarter.
- CBU continued its run into the final frame, going on a 13-0 spurt to take a 47-46 lead with 5:40 left.
- The Lady Statesmen defense responded, holding the Lady Bucs to just one field goal over the last 3:30.
- Rush scored the last five points for DSU, including a pair of free throws with one second left to finish the game.
NOTABLES:
- DSU is now 23-0 all-time vs. CBU in Cleveland.
- Takisha Jordan finished with a career-high 14 points.
- DSU won the game despite holding its opponent to single digit turnovers (9) for the first time this
season.
- The 61 points for the Lady Statesmen are a season high.
