CARROLLTON, Ga. - Trailing by eight points heading into the fourth quarter, the Delta State University women's basketball team outscored West Georgia 12-5 in the final stanza and held the Wolves scoreless over the final 2:18 of game action, but couldn't complete the comeback in falling 55-54 to the Wolves on Monday evening at The Coliseum.

TURNING POINT:
- With the game tied at 36-36 at the 5:00 mark of the third quarter West Georgia ran off 12 of the next 18, using a 12-6 run to close the quarter and take a 48-42 lead into the game's final quarter from which the Lady Statesmen ultimately could not overcome.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Lady Statesmen went 19-of-52 (37 percent) from the field, and went 7-of-18 from three-point territory (39 percent). DSU also went 9-of-11 from the free throw line in the contest.
- The Wolves were 21-of-54 (39 percent) for the game, and knocked down 4-of-13 from three. UWG added a 9-of-15 clip (60 percent) at the free throw line.
- West Georgia out-rebounded Delta State 38-31, including 23-15 in the second half and 13-8 on the offensive glass.
- DSU forced 17 turnovers, but had 16 of their own, while the two teams combined for just 28 total points in the paint (12 from DSU, 16 from UWG).
- West Georgia's bench outscored the Lady Statesmen bench 24-16 in the contest.
- Takisha Jordan led all scorers with 16 points for Delta State, while Aysha Harris led the way for the Wolves with 12 points.
INSIDE THE FLOW:
- UWG jumped out to a 5-4 lead, and built a 10-7 advantage with 2:06 remaining in the first quarter.
- Down 15-11 with seven seconds left in the quarter, Takisha Jordan drew a foul on a three-pointer and hit all three free throws to make it 15-14 West Georgia headed into the second quarter.
- Both sides kept it within two possessions for the entirety of the second quarter, and an Alondrea Rsh layup with five seconds to go in the half sent the two teams to the half knotted up at 27-27.
- The Wolves used seven offensive rebounds in the third quarter and put up 21 points on offense to take a 48-42 lead to the final quarter.
- After playing a scoreless three and a half minutes to open the final quarter, West Georgia built a seven-point, 54-47 lead with 3:16 to play, getting three points from Harris.
- A 7-1 run by DSU over the final 3:16 wasn't enough to overcome the deficit, as a last second shot attempt did not get off in time for Delta State
NOTABLES:
- Alondrea Rush hit three more three-pointers, drawing her within one of seventh place all-time in DSU history. Rush's 119 three-point baskets trails Megan Teel, who hit 120 from 1998-2002.
- Maddy Sheraka poured in a career-high 16 points, including a 4-for-9 clip from three-point territory. She also added four rebounds and one assist for the Green-and-White.
- Rush finished with 16 points, the eighth time that she has scored in double-figures this season.
- Monday's game marked the first time this year that they had three players score in double-figures.
