CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State University women's basketball team held off a furious fourth quarter comeback by the visiting Alabama Huntsville Chargers, and held on for a 67-60 victory, in Gulf South Conference action, on Tuesday at Walter Sillers Coliseum.

TURNING POINT:
- After UAH went on an 18-2 run to take a 53-51 lead with 6:08 remaining, the Lady Statesmen responded with a 16-7 spurt to finish the game.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Lady Statesmen were 10-of-26 (38.5 percent) from the floor in the first half, while UAH was 8-of-25 (32 percent), but stayed in the game with 4-of-11 shooting from three-point range.
- After committing six turnovers in the first period, UAH had just two in the second. The Lady Statesmen converted the eight miscues into 11 points.
- The Chargers had a commanding 20-13 edge on the boards in the first half.
- Takisha Jordan led DSU with six first half points, and four rebounds. Katie Speegle and Allie Bolton had five for UAH.
- DSU was 12-of-24 in the second half, and finished 22-of-50 (44 percent). UAH matched its 8-of-25 performance from the first half in the second to finish 16-of-50 (32 percent). The Chargers stayed in the game with a 22-of-27 (82 percent) effort from the free throw line. The Lady Statesmen were 20-of-28 (71 percent).
- The Lady Statesmen outrebounded the Chargers 19-12 in the second half, giving both teams 32 boards in the game.
- DSU converted 13 UAH turnovers into 18 points.
- Alondrea Rush led all scorers with 25 points, including 20 in the second half. Jordan finished with 22. Chandler Elder led UAH with 12 points. Jordan also led DSU with six rebounds.
INSIDE THE FLOW:
- DSU took advantage of a poor start from the floor by UAH, as it held the Chargers to just 3-of-11 (27 percent) to take a 13-10 lead after the first period. The Lady Statesmen forced six UAH miscues in the opening frame.
- Erin Kate Richardson knocked down a three-pointer with 7:08 left in the second giving the Lady Statesmen an 18-12 lead, but UAH held DSU without a field goal for the last 2:43 to cut the Lady Statesmen lead to 26-25 at the half.
- The Lady Statesmen took a 49-35 lead, their biggest of the game, on a layup by Alondera Rush with 1:02 left in the third.
- DSU held UAH without a field goal for a 6:14 second span from the third quarter, and into the fourth, as DSU took a 49-37 lead into the final frame.
- UAH responded with a huge 18-2 run to take a 53-51 lead on a pair of free throws by Aryn Sanders.
- The Lady Statesmen answered with a 16-7 spurt of their own to close out the game.
NOTABLES:
- The 25 points for Rush are a career high.
- Jordan's 24 points are a career high.
- In all but one game this season (Union) DSU has held its opponents to 11 points or less in at least one quarter.
- The nine turnovers for DSU are a season low.
- DSU had season highs in free throws made (20) and attempted (28).
