CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State men's tennis team came up short to open the 2017 campaign with a 4-5 loss to Alcorn State University (1-9) on Wednesday, Feb. 8 at the Court of Governors Tennis Courts.
The Statesmen (0-1) fell behind in doubles play after dropping the No. 1 and No. 3 spots. DSU claimed the No. 2 victory after
Jeoffrey Noblecourt and
Hicham Azzaoui pulled out a 8-6 win over ASU's Nischay Rawal and Nuno Rocha.
DSU finished the the afternoon with a pair of wins in the singles competition, but ultimately fell in the other four matches.
The Statesmen return to action on the road as they face Belhaven University (Miss.) on Feb. 25 at 3 p.m.
