2016-17 GSC Winter Academic Honor Roll Release

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - James Kilpatrick, John Cornish and Cedric Harper represent the Delta State University men's basketball team on the 2017 Gulf South Conference Fireseeds Winter Academic Honor Roll released on Monday.

In order to be eligible for recognition, student-athletes must maintain a 3.0 grade point average (GPA).

Kilpatrick, a senior biology major from Memphis, Tenn., boasted a 3.55 GPA while earning second GSC Academic Honor Roll honor.. Kilpatrick averaged 8.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game for the Statesmen in all 32 games

Cornish, a junior accounting major from Olive Branch, Miss., posted a 3.47 GPA. Cornish, a two-time recipient of this honor, averaged 19.6 minutes for the Statesmen while also averaging 5 points and 2.2 rebounds per game.

Harper, a junior health, physical education and recreation major from Tallahassee, Fla., posted a 3.44 GPA. Harper played in all 32 games, averaging 7.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game.

The Statesmen finished 23-9 overall and 16-6 in the GSC, making the GSC semifinals and advancing to the NCAA Division II South Region semifinals in Huntsville, Ala.
