CLEVELAND, Miss. – No. 14 Delta State University (29-8, 19-5 GSC) scored 12 runs on 10 hits to take a 12-2 win over Shorter University (19-18, 7-16 GSC) in seven innings on Sunday at Harvey Stadium-Ferriss Field.
Dakota Glore had three-RBIs to lead the Statesmen while
Seth Birdsong struck out four in a complete game win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jason Popovich singled and Emil Ellis walked to start the bottom of the first and Clay Casey singled to load the bases. Dakota Glore delivered a bases clearing single with two outs to give the Statesmen a 3-0 lead.
- Shorter cut the DSU lead to 3-1 in the top of the second on an RBI single by Raul Cortes.
- The Green-and-White added two runs to build a 5-1 lead in the bottom of the third. Zack Shannon singled with two outs and Casey launched his ninth home run of the season.
- The Statesmen added four runs in the fourth take a 9-1 lead. Popovich had an RBI single and a run scored on an Ellis sac-fly. Two more runs crossed on a wild pitch and a throwing error.
- A Blaze Vazquez home run in the top of the seventh cut the deficit to 9-2.
- The Statesmen scored three runs in the bottom of the seven to end the game by the NCAA 10-run rule. Nick Morgan singled home two runs with the bases loaded and Josh Russell singled home the final run.
ON THE MOUND
- Seth Birdsong (6-1) gave up two runs, one earned, on nine hits with four strikeouts to earn the win.
- SU starter Tyler Buchanan (2-2) took the loss, allowing seven runs on six hits with three strikeouts and two walks.
NOTEABLES
- Glore led the Statesmen with three RBIs for a total of seven RBIs in five at bats in the series.
- Jason Popovich had two hits to post his 20th multi-hit game.
- Casey's home run in the third moved the junior into second with nine home runs. Casey finished 2-for-3 three runs scored.
