GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas – No. 20 Lindenwood (Mo.) University (40-18) jumped out to a 4-0 lead and got seven shutout innings from starter Brendan Feldmann to defeat No. 1 Delta State University (44-12) 4-0 in the NCAA Division II World Series on Saturday at the Ballpark in Grand Prairie (TX).

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lindenwood scored a run in the first and second innings to take a 2-0 lead. Wes Degener reached on an error and scored on a Kyle Teter two-out single to right in the first. Sam Baxter tripled and scored on a Paula Sherwood sac-fly.
- The Lions added two runs in the third to build a 4-0 lead. Drew Quinones and Teter singled to start the inning, and Rayce Singbush grounded into a double play to plate a run. Teter would later come in to score on a Sam Baxter bunt single.
- Delta State had runners at second and third in the fourth inning following a Zack Shannon two-out double to right only to see a strikeout end the threat.
ON THE MOUND
- Seth Birdsong (10-2) gave up four runs, three earned, on 11 hits with five strikeouts in seven innings pitched as the pitcher of record for the Statesmen.
- Brendan Feldman (10-4) limited the Statesmen to two hits with four strikeouts over seven scoreless innings of work for the Lions.
- Connor Law worked the final two innings, notching two strikeouts to complete the shutout for the Lions' pitching staff.
NOTEABLES
- The Statesmen had four hits, the fewest since a 13-0 loss to Florida Southern on Feb. 11.
- Shannon's fourth inning double extended his hitting streak to 20 games and his reached base streak to 50 games.
- Popovich's leadoff double in the eighth extended his hitting streak to 10 games.
