Statesmen Continue GSC Action With Spring Hill, West Florida

CLEVELAND, Miss. – After being tripped up by Lee University and Shorter University to open Gulf South Conference play, the Delta State University men's soccer team will continue GSC action this weekend as they travel to Mobile, Ala. to face off against Spring Hill on Friday, Sept. 22, and then turn around and play the University of West Florida on Sunday, Sept. 24 in Pensacola, Fla.

 INSIDE THE SERIES: 
 
  • DSU owns a 5-3 lead in the all-time series with Spring Hill, having knocked off the Badgers 2-1 last season.
  • West Florida leads the all-time series between the two schools 12-3, having defeated the Statesmen 1-0 last year.

ABOUT SPRING HILL:
 
  • The Badgers enter their game against the Statesmen with a 2-2 record on the year, nearly matching last year's win total (3-11-1) through the season's first four games. 
  • Spring Hill has already collected a pair of impressive wins this season, drubbing #8 Tampa 6-1 and defeating reigning GSC champion West Alabama 2-0.
  • Sophomore midfielder Alexander Lipinski leads the way for the Badgers, totaling 11 points through Spring Hill's first four games. Lipinski has scored five goals and has one assist on the year.
  • Tilman Schober leads the way in assists for the Badgers, tallying three thus far on the year, and helping an offense for Spring Hill that has scored 2.5 goals per game this season.

ABOUT WEST FLORIDA:
 
  • The Argonauts enter the weekend 1-3 on the season, with a 2-1 win over Flagler College under their belt. 
  • Rafael Gadoi paces the team with four points, tallying a pair of the goals on the season.
  • Sean Hoffstatter has the other goal that West Florida has scored this season, and also has one assist on the season.
  • The Argonauts offense comes in struggling in their first four outings, mustering just three goals in that span. 

UP NEXT:
After contests with Spring Hill and West Florida, the Statesmen return home to Delta Field to play host to Union University and Christian Brothers University. The Statesmen will play Union at 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 29, and play host to Christian Brothers on Sunday, Oct. 1 at 3 p.m. in Cleveland, Miss.
