CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State University women's basketball team led for all but 54 seconds in a 67-58 victory over visiting Montevallo, in Gulf South Conference action, on Saturday at Walter Sillers Coliseum. The victory snapped a three-game losing skid for the Lady Statesmen.

TURNING POINT:
- After trailing by 11 points (49-38) with 9:38 left, Montevallo cut DSU's lead to 51-48 with 3:53 left. The Lady Statesmen responded with a 10-0 run over the next three minutes to close out the game.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Lady Statesmen were 11-of-30 (36.7 percent) from the floor in the first half, while Montevallo went just 7-of-24 (29 percent) from the floor.
- DSU converted seven first half UM miscues into nine points, while committing just three of its own.
- The Lady Statesmen out-rebounded the visitors 21-18 in the first half.
- Takisha Jordan led DSU with seven first half points, while Simone Jackson had 10 rebounds. De'Asia Smith had seven for Montevallo.
- DSU was 12-of-24 in the second half, and finished 23-of-55 (42 percent). UM improved its first half performance by going 14-of-37 (38 percent) in the second half to finish 21-of-61 (35 percent). The Falcons were 9-of-14 (63 percent) from the free throw line, while the Lady Statesmen were 17-of-22 (77 percent), including 12-of-13 in the second half.
- The Falcons out-rebounded DSU 23-16 in the second half to finish with a 41-37 edge on the boards.
- DSU converted 13 UM turnovers into 17 points.
- Takisha Jordan led the Lady Statesmen with 19 points, including 12 in the second half. Simone Jackson added a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds. De'Asia Marsh led all scorers with 24.
INSIDE THE FLOW:
- After trailing 3-2 early, the Lady Statesmen went on a 10-0 run over the next 2:33, helping give them a 16-11 advantage after the first period.
- A layup by Kassidy Bonebrake cut DSU's lead to 18-17 with 6:31 left in the half, but the Lady Statesmen held Montevallo to just 1-of-7 the rest of the way to finish the half with a 27-19 lead.
- The Falcons used a 9-3 run to cut the deficit to 39-35 with 4:06 remaining in the half, but DSU responded by going 6-of-8 from the floor to take a 46-38 lead going into the fourth quarter.
- After the visitors used a 10-2 spurt to get to within three, 51-48, with 3:53 remaining, the Lady Statesmen went on a 10-0 run over the next three minutes to help close out the game.
NOTABLES:
- Jackson tied a career-high with 12 points and had a career-high 13 rebounds. It was also Jackson's first career double-double. Seven of Jackson's rebounds were on the offensive end.
- This game marked the fourth time that Jordan has led the Lady Statesmen in scoring.
- The 37 rebounds are the second most for DSU this season.
- DSU has held opponents to single digit points in a quarter in nine of the last 13 games.
- The 23 field goals made are the third most for the Lady Statesmen this season.
