Box Score CLEVELAND, Miss.– The Delta State University men's soccer team overcame a two goal deficit to earn a draw Friday afternoon with Lindenwood University

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Lindenwood scored very early in the game. Gaspar Alvarez scored less than six minutes in. The goal came off his chest on a corner kick.
In the 32nd minute Luke McBeth added the second goal for the Lions off of a cross.
Louis Ferguson scored yet another goal for the Statesmen in the 50th minute.
In the 78th minute, the Statesmen were awarded a penalty kick.
Carlos Bestard took the penalty but the goal keeper Tim Licht saved the shot for Lindenwood.
Off the rebound of the penalty kick Bestard was able to slot it into the back of the net.
In the final minutes
Matthew Klinck was able to keep a barrage of shots out for DSU including saving a point blank shot from Lindenwood.
Neither team was able to get anything in the back of the net in the overtime periods.
BEYOND THE NUMBERS:
- Louis Ferguson has now scored in three straight games
- Freshman Carlos Bestard also leads the team with three goals.
- Klinck had four saves in the draw.
- Both teams earned their second draw of the season.
- Statesmen have now played four overtime games this season.
- First time the Statesmen have gotten a result against Lindenwood in three games against the Lions.
