MIAMI SHORES, Fla. –Barry University used a big first quarter to grab an early lead on the Delta State University Lady Statesmen Basketball team on Saturday afternoon and never relinquished the lead in a 74-66 victory.

TURNING POINT
- Barry had a 5-0 run to end the first quarter to extend the lead from seven to twelve.
- The Bucs opened the third quarter on a 6-0 run to extend the lead to 20. DSU closed the gap but could never catch up.
- Delta State cut the lead down to eight several times in the fourth quarter but could not get over the edge to get it any closer.
- The Lady Statesmen shot very poorly in the first half only making 12 of 38 shots and missed all eight three point attempts.
- Barry made seven of their 16 three point attempts in the first half
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Quantesha Patterson led the way for DSU with a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds.
- Zyaire Ewing added 13 points as well.
- Alondrea Rush struggled shooting only two of eleven from the field.
- Frederica Haywood added seven points and eight rebounds.
- Nichel Tampa for Barry led all scorers with 19 points.
INSIDE THE FLOW
- Barry had 11 three pointers in the game compared to two for DSU.
- The Lady Statesmen outscored Barry in the paint 24-22.

- The Lady Statesmen never led in the ball game.
- This is the third season of the GSC/SSC Crossover and Delta State has yet to win a game in the tournament.
