CLEVELAND, Miss. – Delta State University men's basketball (3-2) shot a red hot 66 percent in the second half on its way to a 84-66 win over Cumberland University (6-2) on Saturday at Walter Sillers Coliseum.
Brett Warner led the Statesmen with 18 points followed by
Justin Slocum with 14 points all in the second half.
Armon Benford had a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds and
Cedric Harper chipped in 11 points to round out the four Statesmen in double figures.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- A tight first half saw seven ties and seven lead changes.
- 25-17 on Cameron Burkett 3-pointer with 4:15 left in the first half.
- Cumberland closed the half with a 13-2 run to take a 30-27 lead into the break after an Asher Blum 3-pointer at the buzzer.
- The Statesmen opened the second half on an 11-2 run to take a 38-32 lead on a Burkett layup at the 17:45 mark.
- A pair of made free throws by Brett Warner and Armon Benford gave the Statesmen a 53-42 lead with 12:33 left in the second half.
- The Statesmen lead was cut to 53-47 before a 13-4 spurt opened up a 66-51 advantage after a Warner baseline jump shot with 6:58 remaining.
- An AJ Cockrell layup gave the Statesmen an 81-62 lead at the 2:04 mark of the second half.

- The Statesmen opened the second half on and 11-2 run take the lead for good before going on a 13-4 run to take stretch the lead to 66-51 with 6:58 left.
