Statesmen Drop Season Opener To Eckerd, 85-78

LAKELAND, Fla. – Matthew Wilson scored 21 points to lead four players in double figures but a late scoring run lifted Eckerd College (1-0) to a 85-78 win over Delta State University (0-1) men's basketball on Friday.
 
Brett Warner scored 14 points followed by Justin Slocum with 11 and Cedric Harper with 10 points.
The Statesmen could not overcome Eckerd's 14-3 run that yielded the Tritons 76-66 lead with 3:44 left in the second half.
