CLEVELAND, Miss. – Despite 18 points from
Alondrea Rush and Takishia Jordan's career-high 13 rebounds, the University of West Georgia Wolves claimed a 55-46 victory over the Delta State University women's basketball team in Gulf South Conference action on Thursday, Feb. 1 at Walter Sillers Coliseum.
UWG sweeps the season series for the first time between the two teams.

TURNING POINT:
Takisha Jordan
- West Georgia used a stifling defense to hold Delta State without a basket for 10:40 over the third and fourth quarters, ultimately building a 49-39 lead with 3:24 to play in the game.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Alondrea Rush led the Lady Statesmen with 18 points, aided by four first half three-pointers. Takisha Jordan added a career-high 13 rebounds. Alexis Ross scored nine points and grabbed seven rebounds as well.
- Jessica Brown led West Georgia with 13 points while A'Kia Harris chipped in with 10 points and eight rebounds.
INSIDE THE FLOW:
- After a slow offensive start for both teams, Takisha Jordan's 15-foot jumper pushed the Lady Statesmen to a 9-6 lead over the Lady Wolves at the 4:40 media timeout of the first quarter.
- DSU used back-to-back three's by Alondrea Rush to help build a six-point advantage, 15-9, at the end of the first quarter.
- West Georgia used a 10-1 run to start the second quarter and take a 19-16 lead with 5:45 to go in the half.
- A quick jumper by Alexis Ross and a deep 3-pointer by Rush put the Lady Statesmen back up 21-19 with 3:39 to play in the second quarter.
- De'Ashia Jones gave the Wolves a brief 26-25 lead with 4.4 seconds, but Delta State's Rush canned a 26-foot, 3-pointer at the buzzer to put the Lady Statesmen up 28-25 at the break.
- UWG started out the third quarter on a 12-6 run to take a 38-34 lead, their biggest of the game, with 4:30 remaining in the period.
- Jumper's by Erin Richardson and Rush cut UWG's lead to 40-39 at the end of the third quarter.
- In a pivotal stretch of the fourth period, the Wolves went on a 7-0 run to take their largest lead of the night, 47-39, with 6:33 to play in the game.
- Richardson's 3-pointer with 3:06 to play ended a 10:40 field goal drought for the Lady Statesmen and cut UWG's lead to 49-42.
- West Georgia closed out the 55-46 victory outscoring DSU 15-7 in the final frame.
NOTABLES:
- Jordan established a new career-high for rebounds with 13.
- Rush led all scorers with 16 points at the half. The junior from Olive Branch, Miss., was 6-of-7 from the floor and 4-of-5 from 3-point range. She was held to just two points in the second half.
- DSU has held opponents to less than 60 points in 14 of its 20 games.
- West Georgia, which swept the home-and-home series for the first time in history, edged the Lady Statesmen, 55-54, at The Coliseum in Carrollton, Ga., in the first meeting of the season on Dec. 18, 2017.
